Enterprise Holdings is a parent company of large car rental companies Alamo Rent-A-Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and National Car Rental, making them the biggest company for car rentals in the US. Headquartered in the town of Clayton, Missouri, Enterprise Holdings traces its origin back to 1957, but the company really took off after the acquisition in 2007 of Vanguard Automotive Group. Enterprise, which claimed a revenue of $20.9 billion in 2016, began a very successful carsharing program on the campus of Washington University, St. Louis in 2009. They now have 100 carsharing programs which offer choices of almost 100 plug-in hybrids and electric cars.
